Machinery Movers in Birmingham

Birmingham and the Black Country still make things, and the machines that make them have to move from time to time: a toolroom relocating to a bigger unit, a fabrication shop selling a press brake, a warehouse swapping its reach trucks between depots. Our machinery movers in Birmingham handle the transport side of those moves. We get the machine onto a suitable vehicle, carry it securely and set it down at the other end.

To be clear about scope: we move machines, we do not install them. Disconnecting power, air and hydraulics before the move, and reconnecting and commissioning afterwards, sit with your maintenance team or a contractor you choose. We also do not carry out rigging work such as skating machines through buildings or dismantling them for access. Keeping to the lift and the journey means we can quote it accurately and plan it to the standards in the HSE workplace transport guidance.

What we move for Midlands businesses

  • CNC machines, lathes, mills and grinders
  • Press brakes, presses and sheet metal machinery
  • Welding sets, saws and fabrication equipment
  • Forklifts, reach trucks and other materials handling kit
  • Compressors, chillers and generators
  • Plastics, packaging and printing machinery

From enquiry to delivery

We start by getting the facts: weight, dimensions, where the lifting points or fork pockets are, and what access looks like at both addresses. That includes gate widths, headroom over the loading area, and whether a forklift will be available on the day. Photos save time. We then choose the vehicle and the way the machine will be lifted, and confirm a price.

On moving day, your team has the machine disconnected and clear of obstructions. We load it, secure it to the deck, drive it to the new premises and unload it at the agreed spot, usually a loading bay or just inside a roller door. Your team takes it from there.

Lifting on and off

If you have a forklift with enough capacity, we can use it to load. If you do not, or the machine is too heavy for it, a HIAB crane lorry lifts the machine on and off without any other equipment on site. Where you only need a machine collected and delivered as a straight haulage job, our plant machinery transport in Birmingham covers that.

When a machine is too big for a standard lorry

Tall machines can go on low loader hire with a driver, which drops the deck height and keeps the load under bridges. Machines over 3 metres wide need advance notice to the police and highway authorities, which our abnormal load transport in Birmingham arranges before the move.

How much do machinery movers cost in Birmingham?

Here are two machine moves we priced this year, with the figure charged for each:

  • £680: reach truck, Bristol to Cradley Heath (August 2026)
  • £695: 2.6 tonne electric forklift, Jarrow to Meriden (March 2026)

Both are real prices, shown for illustration and still a reasonable guide as of October 2026. Fuel costs, the size of the machine, the distance and site access will all affect your quote. Prices exclude VAT.

Selling or buying a used machine?

A lot of our Midlands work comes from the used machinery trade. A machine sold at auction or through a dealer often needs collecting from a site that is closing down, with limited time to get it out. Buyers want it delivered to a unit that may still be fitting out. In both cases, the timing at each end matters as much as the journey. Tell us the collection deadline and any restrictions at the seller's site, and we will plan the move around them. If the seller has no forklift left on site, a HIAB is often the answer. If the machine needs to sit somewhere for a few days between collection and delivery, raise it at the quote stage so we can discuss what is possible.

Areas covered

We move machinery across Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Smethwick, Solihull, Tamworth, Redditch and Telford, and from the West Midlands to anywhere in the UK.

Why choose us

  • Scope agreed up front, so nobody is surprised on the day
  • Vehicle and lifting method chosen from the machine's actual weight and size
  • HIAB lorries where there is no forklift
  • Low loaders and wide load notices handled in house when needed
  • A fixed quote for the move before you book

Frequently asked questions

Will you install the machine at the new site?

No. We unload it at an agreed point, and installing, levelling and reconnecting are not part of our service. Those jobs belong to your engineers or a contractor you appoint.

Can you collect from an auction or a closing site?

Yes. Let us know the collection window and any rules the site has about vehicle access, and we will plan around them.

Do I need to empty coolant or oil first?

Usually yes. Fluids should be drained or made secure so nothing leaks during transport. Your engineers or the machine's manual will say what is needed.

How much notice do you need?

A week is comfortable for most single machines. For several machines or a full unit, contact us as early as you can.
